The TMC5031-EVAL allows you to explore all functions of the TMC5031-LA.
The TMC5031 stepper controller-driver IC is a powerful system-on-a-chip, integrating sophisticated ramp-generators and two power stages plus best-in-class diagnostics and protection in a tiny 7x7mm² QFN package. Developed with a focus on the fast growing CCTV camera market the component is well suited for other areas that require precise positioning, e.g. medical, industrial or consumer applications. The functionality embedded in the components allows for superior results concerning motor control, without the need of a deep understand of motor physics.
The STM32F ARM Cortex-M3 microcontroller is used to control the TMC5031. The FLASH memory of the microcontroller contains a program which configures the controller/driver chip and controls the communication with the PC via the USB interface and the RS232 interface.
All you need to get started is a power supply and Trinamic's free and easy to use TMCL-IDE. This graphical user interface allows quick setup and supports the use of commands in direct mode, monitors real-time behavior visualized in graphs, and logs and stores data. All settings can simply be exported for your own firmware project.
