unreliable communication

unreliable communication

Postby sensolytics » 10 May 2012, 16:51

For evaluation I bought a PD2-113-57-SE-232 and hooked it up to my computer.
[*]After powering the module, I recognize a constantly flashing red LED - is this indicating an error, or should I ignore this?
[*]The communication is not reliable, from my software some commands seem to be ignored, and TMCL-IDE sometimes complains about missing module

Can you enlight me, what's going wrong here?

-The flashing red LED means that the module is running, everything is okay!
-As you are using RS232: are you using an USB-to-RS232 interface? Some of them seem to be working unreliable.

Thanks for your message. We have checked this, but in the meantime we found something more interesting: when we reduce the supply voltage, we can extend the time until the first communication errors occur: 24V-several minutes, 15V-~1 hour, and with 10V the module worked without problem for about a day, then suddenly failing as described before. Would it be possible to order a replacement board from you, to verify if this happens always?

Yes, please get the module exchanged via your distributor. Something must be wrong with it.
