step and direction only

I am interested in using the TMC429 only to generate step & direction signals to a servo amp which takes those signals in position mode.
However I have other axes controlled differently in my system and it is important that ramping is controlled from the central controller to maintain axis synchronisation. Is it possible to send position commands through this device without ramp internal modification?

yes, when you set very high acceleration and velocity, the TMC429 will quickly follow the target position, so that you can drive your motor by just giving a sequence of positions.
