TMCM-090 supply and STEP_ENN pin

TMCM-090 supply and STEP_ENN pin

Postby patriciocoronado » 12 Jan 2012, 11:24

Hello.

I am developing a measurement system with TMCM-090. When I am measuring, I have to turn off the TMCM-090 48V power supply, because the 48V DC/DC is very noisy. I also have to change motors through relays.

The questions are:

1- ¿Can I turn off or turn on the TMCM-090 48V, keeping the TMCM-090 5V on?

2- What does exactly do the STEP_ENN pin.

3- ¿Can I disconnect or connect the motor with STEP_ENN=5V?

Hello, yes, you may turn off the 48V supply during idle times, but the motor might slightly change its position when powering off and on.
It will be a good idea to the supply off before switching over to an other motor, but it is not a must.
STEP_ENN function does not really fit to its name: It is a digital output, which goes high at a certain microstep position within the electrical waves. At this position, you can change the microstep resolution.
