Bootstrap loader problems

Postby spacebar64 » 20 Aug 2009, 23:23

I have a TMC603-EVAL board with the infineon XC886 processor. I am not able to get the BSL working with RS-232, and now the EVAL GUI doesn't work. I cannot establish communication with the PC. This worked before I attempted an upload of the firmware. What can I do to recover? I tried using the TMCL-IDE, XC800_FLOAD, and Infineon memtool. No one can communicate with the bootloader. My mistake may have been neglecting to install the BSL jumper before attempting the download.

Hello spacebar64,

the BSL working is only possible by using the Infineon USB-2-CAN interface. Please do not use this option. If you misuse the BSL mode the EVAL firmware and bootloader will erase.

To update the EVAL firmware, please follow the instructions as shown in the TMC603-EVAL manual (chapter 7.1). The jumper BSL must not plugged (default setting). If an update is not possible it seems that the bootloader is erased.

So, if the bootloader is erased how can I reload the firmware? Can I use the JTAG interface to program the FLASH?

OK. Now everything is working. I don't know what I did different. Could having the module sitting unpowered for a few days cause something to get reset?
