Rated voltage

Rated voltage

Postby BMcGregor » 10 May 2012, 12:38

QSH4218-35-10-027 motor datasheet from Farnell (QSH4218 Manual V1.06/2011-APR-12) shows rated voltage as 5.3V on page 4. However, page 7 shows driver torque with supply voltage of +24VDC. I want to drive the motor using an existing 24V supply. Will this damage the motor, since it exceeds the 5.3V? Sorry, may be obvious to others, but I'm a stepper motor beginner. Thanks.

Please see the chapter on motor driver supply voltage in the motor manual for background information. The driver supply voltage must be significantly above the rated voltage.
