Which interface to select?

I am looking for a 2 axis solution with pandrives
Which interface can you recommend? Is it possible to use two separate RS232 connections (through 2 USB-to-RS232 converters for example) and control the two axes from the software simultaneously?
Or do you really need RS 485 to control multiple Pandrives?

You can also use two seperate RS232 connections. Then you will just have to open two different RS232 connections from your software. Maybe this can be even easier than using an RS485 line.
