Sixpack2 Problem of delay in the Communications

Sixpack2 Problem of delay in the Communications

Postby Josema » 03 Nov 2011, 09:35

I have connected in the same communication bus RS-485, one Sixpack2 (with address 4) and others three modules more with address 1, 2 and 3. While I am sending command to Sixpack2, I don’t have problem of time, but when I sent a command to other modules, I have to wait more o less one second, before to sent other command to sixpack2. How I can to reduce this time?.

Thanks.

Are these all Sixpack2 modules or one Sixpack2 and some other (in this case: which) modules?

Hello,

Only I have one Sixpack2 . The others modules are: ADAM-4050 (Rs232 to RS485), ADAM-4012 (Analog input), ADAM-4051(digital imputs), and ADAM-4056S (Digital 4056S).
I have configurated the command $41:Packet Timeot to 2, and in this moment, I do´t have to wait one second, and the communication is better.

Do you think that, this is the correct solution?

Thanks.

I think that your problem is caused by the fact that those different modules are using completely different RS485 protocols. This lets the Sixpack sometimes think that something meant for your other modules is part of a Sixpack command and thus it waits for some bytes to complete the command. After the timeout is over the Sixapck discards those bytes and returns to normal state. So setting the timeout to a lower value seems to be a suitable solution for your problem.
