thank you for your request - when you use the FDD8424, which works with up to 40V, there is only the need for a small voltage shift between TMC249 and the MOSFET, because the TMC249 can sustain 36V maximum. A simple zener diode shifter does the job- please see here in the FAQ document
on page 6. The left schematic corresponds to the TMC249-HVHR-EVAL Board. For 40V target voltage, you can work with BZV55C5V6 diodes. These 5.6V zener types provide the best thermal stability. The TMC249-HVHR-EVAL uses BZV55C12 to support a voltage up to 48V.
