Evaluation board TMC32NPx-EVAL

Evaluation board TMC32NPx-EVAL

Postby mll » 09 Feb 2010, 12:51

Hello,

I bought a evaluation board TMC32NPx-EVAL to test the TMC249 AND TMC401 couple. In the documentation of the evaluation board, it's indicate that one of driver difference it's the current. And the current capability of one driver is 2.8A rms. when we test it, the current don't exceed 1A. So how can we use the driver with more than 1A rms.

Thank you

Hello,
the current capability of the drivers mainly differ due to different thermal performance of the different transistors. The TMC34NP gives the highes continuous driver current. The basic current setting is done via the sense resistors. A sense resistor of 0.22Ohms gives an RMS current of 1A. You can adapt the driver sections to the desired current by modifying the sense resistor. For the ease of use with 1A motors, the default values are not for the highest current.
